Description
Open to female graduate students only
Wendy Murphy, Associate Professor at Babson College, notes that “to be a great mentor today requires creativity and the flexibility to adapt your approach to your protégé’s needs. In the process, great mentors learn a lot too.” In this webinar session, Professor Murphy will present an overview and lead interactive exercises on what makes a good mentoring relationship. She will also focus on developmental networks and engage participants with a mapping exercise.
Offering our female graduate students opportunities for mentoring will enrich their experience at KAUST and help them as they make important decisions about their futures. As a female scientist or a female professional, our mentors have a wealth of experience to share with KAUST’s young female students.
Women in Science & Engineering mentoring program has been launched in January 2017 during the WEP and will continue until June 2017. The aim of this program is to encourage students to find a mentor and build a good mentoring relationship. First of all during our first event we proposed a panel discussion between some mentors about their experience, following by a speed mentoring session with 20 women mentors available. Thus students were able to meet around ten of them. Now for this new event, we hope help mentors and their mentees to improve their mentoring relationship. Thus this new session is aimed to female graduate students who were already registered for the session on January. They will receive a personal invitation. However we also propose around 40 additional seats for new female graduate students who hope to join the program.
