About the theme Edge

WEP 2023 will look at knowledge transformation through the lens of Edge - the cusp of discovery, where the bold take risks to push frontiers to expand understanding, to change the world through research. Edge will seek out the risk-takers across a broad spectrum, not just inter-disciplinary science-pioneers, but the boundary-breakers; the policymakers that enable; the communicators that explain the unexplainable.

Edge will blur the boundaries of disciplines to explore the intersections of energy, digital, food, water, smart health, and environment, bringing adventurous CEOs, deep tech entrepreneurs, and unorthodox inventors to share their insights. Investigating both the technical and social, Edge will ask how they went to the Edge and beyond and how did they share their discovery with the world. Edge will encourage a radical assessment of how we break the borders of understanding, collectively and individually. As scientists, artists, explorers, volunteers, and humans – to understand how we ignite our individual confidence to step into the unknown and the outcomes of that transformative journey on ourselves and the world around us.
