Description
About this two-day workshop
To kick-off 2019 we are planning a short fun activity: The goal is to build a simple but large (~10m) sundial.
In this workshop organized by the self-directed group Maker Space, we will briefly review how a sundial works and then build several.
On day 1 - Wednesday, January 16, 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM, everyone gets to build a small sundial to take home, and we will use some time to plan out the large sundial to be made on day 2.
On day 2 - Sunday, January 20, 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM, we will build one (about 10 meters) large sundial together on the spine.
We will need helping hands to put up a 10m rope at a specific angle. The rope will cast a shadow on the floor that is used to tell the time. Further, we will need even more helping hands to place the numerals on the floor and to decorate the whole sundial nicely. The sundial will be fully functional and (hopefully also) a visually pleasing timepiece.
