Description
Workshop & Hackathon
The modern interface between humans and machines is rapidly changing with new developments such as voice control, conversational user interfaces, as well as networked haptic and sensory devices. Using these technologies, the things that surround us increasingly start to "talk" to us and with each other.
In this 5-day workshop, participants will learn how to "make stuff talk" by covering the basics of:
- Voice control
- Micro-services powered by artificial intelligence (i.e., chatbots)
- Internet of Things (IoT) devices
This workshop will explore the intersection of these technologies and experiment in small groups in a playful way. A hackathon that follows the workshop will give each team the chance to design and implement a novel IoT enabled device that "talks" with its environment, its users, and other devices.
In a final showcase, the projects will be rated by the KAUST community. Awards will be presented to the winning team.
