Description
Science and technology have vital roles to play in helping solve the world’s great challenges
Science and technology have great potential for solving local and global issues. In order to contribute effectively to social debates, decision making it is critical that scientists be able to convey their research in meaningful or moving way for a general audience. This communication gap can prevent important scientific advances from reaching target audiences and inspiring positive change. By teaching young scientists to be compelling communicators, we can inspire the next generation, not just to inform a general audience about KAUST research, but also to engage the viewers in a memorable way.
In this workshop divided into five sessions:
- The speakers will showcase the latest technology and techniques for visual science communication. Including exciting new developments for the role of artificial intelligence, virtual/augmented reality, and data-driven storytelling techniques in visual communication.
- Participants will learn what it takes to produce effective narratives for science communication along with the basics of video production and data visualization methods.
- Participants will apply these skills to make their own short videos on an aspect of their own work or life at KAUST or that of other KAUST researchers or community members.
