City of the Future

Today, 54% of the world’s population lives in urban areas; a proportion that the UN expects to increase to 66% by 2050, with close to 90% of the increase concentrated in Asia and Africa. By necessity, the city of the future should be sustainable, maximize resource-use efficiency, and draw from renewable sources to supply energy, food, and water for all. These questions bring many uncertainties but one key certainty: science and technology will be essential to bring the city of the future to life.

Be part of the City of the Future

Running from Sunday, April 29 to Thursday, May 3, 2018, the Enrichment in the Spring program explored with the building of the City of the Future. Our program was chaired by Professor Omar Knio and was open to the entire KAUST community and invited guests.
