Welcome to the world of wearable technology! E-textiles is a multi-disciplinary emergent field where design, function, and elegance merge. Incorporating conductive fibers and active elements directly into the textile itself, E-textiles can be used to sense, emit or display light and sound, heat, cool, change shape, compute or harvest ambient energy or monitor medical conditions . One aim is to collect sensory data and convey this information to the wearer in real time or otherwise store it. Another is the fusion of clothing, fashion and accessories with technology as self-expression. This five session workshop is a hands-on, enriching experience to refresh and enliven the creative spirit. No specific technical knowledge is required. The purpose is to explore and play with this technology.
