There are three opportunities to attend this 2 day course. First opportunity is Course A (13 & 14 Jan), the second opportunity is Course B (20 & 21 Jan) and the third opportunity is Course C (28 & 29 Jan). Please only register for ONE of these Courses. A two-day interactive training course covering the history, basic principles, tools and techniques of the Lean Six Sigma (LSS) process improvement methodology. The course will begin with an introduction to industrial history leading up to the introduction of scientific management and the evolution into what has become known as Lean Six Sigma. Following the introduction the course will cover the applied and conceptual aspects of the methodology with some hands-on exercises to better understand the concepts and rigor of Lean Six Sigma. There will be exposure to key problem solving tools and some data analysis techniques will be introduced. Attendees will be required to bring laptop computers running Minitab Statistical Software and the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel and PowerPoint). Lean Six Sigma is a widely used process improvement method in manufacturing, process industry and administration. Organizations such as GE, Motorola, Toyota, Pfizer, Ford, Aramco and US Army all attribute part of their success to the use of the Lean Six Sigma tools. Students graduating from KAUST are likely to encounter lean six sigma early in their careers and the purpose of this session is to establish a basic familiarity with the history and application of the Lean Six Sigma tools.
