Enrichment in the Fall is coming! October 16 – 24
Dive deeper into the world of marine megafauna
Starting with an opening night extravaganza on Sunday, October 18 and followed by three core event days, Enrichment in the Fall will entertain and educate you with keynotes, lunchtime lectures, a big musical performance with seven-time Grammy winner Paul Winter featuring whale sounds, a visit of the King Abdullah Economic City Port, marine movies and much more.
Our focus for this fall is the large marine animals on the move. Inspired by the KAUST three-day workshop "Marine Megafauna Movement" organized that same week by Professor Carlos Duarte and Xianglang Zhang working for the Red Sea Research Center, this exciting new program will explore the movements patterns of marine magafauna (whales sharks, sharks, dolphins, turtles, rays, penguins, sea lions, etc.) by using tags with sophisticated sensors, and will also provide an overview of the progress of our understanding of human mobility from analyzing our own tracking data (through Smartphones).
This program will also give you the unique opportunity, with the help of the Red Sea Research Center and the world's top experts on tracking, to “adopt” a marine animal and track it in real time via electronic tags as it travels far and wide across the oceans of our planet.
Enrichment in the Fall is open to the whole KAUST community.
If you have questions, please contact us at contactwep@kaust.edu.sa.
We can't wait to see you there!
